Alex Shearer's Health Coach Journey

Introducing Alex Shearer - certified health coach and wellness content creator. We're so excited to have her as a part of our Re-Active community. Read below to get to know Alex's wellness tips and the start of her health coach journey. 


1. Describe your journey as a health coach. How did you get into this space?
I have loved health and wellness for as long as I can remember. Growing up I was always doing my own research and educating friends and family on healthy lifestyle practices. I always knew I wanted to do something surrounding health, but wasn't sure what. My university didn't have a nutrition program, so I went into psychology. It was during my studies there that I realized the real connection between the mind and body. After I graduated, I decided to go to The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and combine my psychology and nutrition training. I am beyond happy I made that decision. It has been the best step in my career and my personal health journey. 
2. What is your favorite type of movement right now? 
 Lagree! I am obsessed with Lagree style pilates. I've been doing it for nearly 8 years. It makes me feel strong, toned, and confident.
3. What is your go to tip for a successful morning? How do you give yourself grace when you've had a not so great start? 
Establish a routine. It doesn't have to be 2 hours long and 27 steps. It can be 3-5 minutes of stretching or as simple as getting some sunlight on your face. But creating a morning practice, no matter what it is, sets the tone for the day. I wish my routine was perfect every day, but let's be honest, it's not. If I haven't had a great start I take a moment to step back, take some deep breaths and say some kind words to myself.
4. What has been your biggest takeaway about wellness after becoming a health coach?
 Every body is different. We are all uniquely created and what works for my body doesn't necessarily work for my clients.
